Contact your representative TODAY to ask them to protect the health and safety of our communities by voting YES on SB 19-181. It has been a long fight for SB 19-181, many have spent long nights at the Capitol showing support for this bill, and now it is time for the House floor vote!
SB 19-181 will
- provide common sense protections for the health and safety of Colorado communities close to oil and gas development.
- put our communities first by putting protections in place to reduce air pollution; many Colorado counties are graded between C and F for high ozone days by the American Lung Association.
- grant communities local control — a right to participate in decisions concerning where, when, and how oil and gas development can occur in their cities and neighborhoods.
- increase financial accountability for 'orphaned' wells by increasing the bonding requirement for oil and gas permits.
- change the Colorado Oil and Gas Conservation Commission's mission from "fostering" oil and gas development to its duty to "regulate" the industry while prioritizing health and safety.
